Being able to export my social graph on the Fediverse from Mastodon, then import it into on an entirely different service like Calckey without having to start over has broken my brain.
There really isn't a walled garden on the Fediverse! Adding my Mastodon followers worked flawlessly. I could even import my lists! Rebuilding my content filter rules is a bit of a daunting task best left for some other time. I'm going to enjoy this for a bit.
The enhanced features of MFM posting seem very nice too. A post preview to prevent formatting mistakes? Markdown language with custom emoji? 3k character count? Reactions? All Sweet. I also appreciate being able to add hashtags in their own space without having to insert them throughout the post. It makes texts much easier to read.
First impressions of Calckey are very positive.

Here is some data on the 1970s era computers onboard the amazing Voyager spacecraft, which are still humming along after 45.6 years in the harsh environment of space and without any service calls 🔧

In case you missed it, you can edit your posts on Mastodon. Just go to the post you want, click ⋯ and then "Edit".
This should work on the web and all the apps. (Some third party apps may have a slightly different interface.)
Whenever you edit a post, it sends a notification to everyone who has interacted with it, and a link (usually labelled "edited") will appear below the post showing all previous versions. This is to prevent "bait & switch" shenanigans.
Just a shout out to my favorite doomblog: web3 is going great

With all that in mind, here's a suggestion:
➡️ *IF* mastodon.social becomes more than 50% of the Fediverse, either by total users or monthly active users, the rest of us should defederate it.
Sticking with mastodon.social because "that's where the people are" is pointless. Centralised growth will simply cause the governance problems we've seen on Twitter and Facebook to be replicated on here.
Growth has to be decentralised in order to protect the independence of all Fedi servers.

The Wayfarers Chapel, also known as "The Glass Church", is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, #California. The church was designed by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright) in the late 1940s and was built between 1949 and 1951.
