This is also a great way to follow newsletters without your email inbox getting jammed up. I mostly subscribe to newsletters, turn the emails off, and then read them in my feed reader.
Most newsletters provide an RSS feed, or there are some RSS readers that will let you send emails to a special email address so they show up in your feed.

Besides the obvious dangers of AI confabulating a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer or, say, a need to resect a liver tumor, the entire intention to replace human abstraction, inference, and meta-analytical capabilities w/ thinly-veiled "appearance of thought" is fucking insane.
Say no to AI in medicine.
I did.
Oh, and it doesn't reduce burnout if you believe in medical oversight: it's no different than having to supervise the worst resident ever, except your worst residents in this case ALSO engage in magical thinking, make shit up, and thus require a fine-toothed comb versus a rubber stamp.
And, your resident isnt really capable of predictable learning & revision in this case.
These "improve margins" posts get to the core: cut costs, harm people, move fast so they don't get caught.
It is purely a new scam by them. That's all.
I am going to be adding a variation on a "warrant canary" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrant_canary) to the syllabus for any classes that I teach. For example:
"I have _not_ been directed by the university, government, or any other organization to add, alter, or remove any portion of this course. Watch closely for if this notice is ever removed."
If/when institutions try to control what we teach, they may try to prevent sharing details of the ratfuckery that's happening
"People who bite the hand that feeds them usually lick the boot that kicks them."

Many of the internet’s ills are based on widespread corporate surveillance online. This pervasive system, ran by corporations and governments, stifles our speech, and erodes our privacy. But together, we can dismantle it. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/11/address-online-harms-we-must-first-do-privacy
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into our criminal justice system is one of the most worrying developments across policing and the courts. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/11/ai-criminal-justice-trend-attorneys-need-know-about
God,
Keep my anger from becoming meanness.
Keep my sorrow from collapsing into self-pity.
Keep my heart soft enough to keep breaking. Keep my anger turned towards justice, not cruelty.
Remind me that all of this, every bit of it, is for love.
Keep me fiercely kind.
Amen.

I may be moving the dpw.social instance overseas. This might be an opportunity for me to actually upgrade the software I'm running to the 4.x branch. AFAIK, this will break a few things, so anyone actually using my instance (listens.... crickets...) dm me or email me and we can see about data migration.
