"Mr. [Fred] Rogers often told this story about when he was a boy and would see scary things on the news: "My mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world."
@TheBreadmonkey is a helper.
@cuchaz yeah but they did have a deal with Google to be the default search engine that funded, I think, a majority of their staff. I use it too because I respect it. They should, ethically, put some pop-ups and opt out by default behavior. They're still not as bad as most. Sigh....
AT&T said the 110M customer records were not taken from a law enforcement portal, neither in whole or in part.

Don’t pre-supplicate yourself to trump by declaring that voting won’t matter this November, or that trump will steal the election, or that the current uncertainty will doom us. It’s one of the oldest strategies in the voter suppression handbook: telling you not to bother voting because your vote won’t count. Do not fall for it.
2/ Angry:
If #Biden stays in the race — as it appears he will — he can, and will beat Donald #Trump again with our help.
If Biden decides to leave the race, Kamala Harris can, and will beat Donald Trump with our help.
The situation is politically complicated, but it’s also fundamentally very easy. Our job doesn’t change. Our goals don’t change.
We’re going to follow the UK. We’re going to follow France.
We’re going to defeat authoritarianism.
I swear I was just going to post nearly exactly this, but Angry Staffer said it better: 1/2
I think everyone needs to take a step back, breathe, think about the reality we’re in
We’re all on same side here. We all have the same goal. Yes, we may have different ideas for how to get there, but we all want the same thing.
Trumpism has to be defeated; #Project2025 can’t be allowed anywhere near the corridors of power.
We have to stop fighting amongst ourselves and keep our eyes on the prize
@cmconseils i will say, based on the 2016 fiasco: it started with brexit and noone thought it would pass. Then Trump, same thing. Hopefully the British and French elections portend some earnest anti-fascist sentiment in the US as well. Telling everyone about project 2025 is helping, but we have to keep beating the drum. Keep telling people even if you yourself are tired of it, because you may reach one or two more people even when you think you've exhausted all your contacts.
