@StillIRise1963 As an archivist, I urge people to keep their own record whenever they can. I see a lot of people talking about getting rid of old diaries, deleting old messages or posts, and I understand the impulse and even need to declutter or release.
But again, as an archivist, we can't save what people don't record or save themselves. It's important to have perspectives on this time.
Hello, Hachyderm!
We've been talking about an upcoming post about our plans to prepare our infrastructure for possible changes in legislation coming from the United States' with the new administration. The post is finally here: https://community.hachyderm.io/blog/2024/11/29/ensuring-hachyderms-future-improving-safety-resilience-through-strategic-placement-of-infrastructure/.
Please take a moment and read through our plans. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to us @hachyderm or in our new community discussions section on Github at https://github.com/hachyderm/community/discussions/589.

@luckytran Pneumonia isn't a virus which can be prevented by a vaccine nor is it a bacteria which can be cured with antibiotics. It is a symptom caused by many different sources in much the same way a cough is a symptom. There are no vaccines for pneumonia and no vaccines for a cough.
I know we live in a world where AI companies and big tech often don't seem to have a strong code of ethics. They sometimes appear to disregard guidelines. However, here is an old page that explains the Code of Ethics for System Administrators. As an individual, you must always follow certain ethics and codes of conduct, even if others aren't. It helps you sleep better, and at least you're contributing to making the world a better place.

I am still seeing tons of articles in the mainstream media about how Democrats need to win back disaffected Trump voters. This is despite the data which clearly shows that Trump's vote did not increase significantly over 2020, but rather that Democratic voters voted in substantially smaller numbers.
I see no articles about how Democrats need to energize their base to vote, which is what the data indicates. The mainstream narrative is pure bullshit.
Under #Trump, #EPA scientists say managers encouraged them to delete evidence of chemicals’ harms, including #cancer, miscarriage and neurological problems, from their reports. And in some cases, they said, their managers deleted the information themselves.

Hey everybody, remember when Kristi Noem put into her memoir and then very vocally told the world that she'd wantonly and pointlessly shot a puppy to death, and "everybody" was horrified?
Everybody except for a few people who pointed out that she was advertising her qualifications for a major role in a fascist government, by clearly demonstrating her willingness to do anything regardless how morally and viscerally repellent?
Proposed Head of the DHS, how about that, huh?
it is weird every time one of the humans asks me their only question "where are you going for christmas" motherfucker I do not get my dopamine from accommodaton and other peoples religious holidays(???) I get my dopamine from learning and doing cool shit.
is my kind really so rare a breed that nobody has ever asked me what I am reading this summer, or what systems am I experiencing, or even just what am I designing right now.
are the interesting humans of earth only on the fedi?
this is why we need to teach each other about solidarity, the transformational kind, and quickly

Had my literary agent actually stipulate that for my projects, I wanted human editors, human audiobook narrators, human cover artists, or else I'd take my book elsewhere. Don't let #Publishing trick you into pretending they hate AI or are against AI because they love #AI and so, you need to be extra firm on this and yes, they are fighting us every step of the way.
I worked for the burningman project as Department of Public Works for 16 or so years. I have been programming since I was 12 and this is my 1st forray into social media. Here's hoping federation lives up to its promises!
