A new low, even for #Google. Giving Google permission to share information about you with third-party websites is being falsely advertised as an "ad privacy feature". This is privacy washing at its most extreme. But it gets even worse.
There is a dark pattern on the second screenshot. It isn't just informing you about the fake privacy features. Clicking on "Got it" actually turns on these features that allow Google to use your recent browsing history for ads on third-party websites:

I'm getting into godo t(game development IDE), I literally just installed unity(another one that is very popular) when their whole thing went to shit. I'm really excited about programming a few games and having an artistic space where my lady-partner-legal-domestic-chick-best33dollarseverspentonalegaldocument can combine our weird art worlds.
unity convinced me I needed to spend $3000 on a new computer.
godot convinced me that I can pretty much do anything I want if I try.
godot for the win.
I've done game design in my head since I was 6 and started programming when my grandpa died and no one but me wanted his Tandy 286 computer except me. (I was 12). I've kept up with computer programming and server management as a hobby, but the thought of ever using it for someone else or a company felt like a betrayal of something very important within me. I worked as a webdeveloper for 6 months or so in '99 but it was on my terms.
I got a small and easy wake up call that was a shit ton of pain in my foot. It was gout. I had cut out just about every drug in the world due to interactions, ODs and dumb shit I've witnessed. But now, basic bitch: beer had done it. My body is aging and dumb, and I can only get my dopamine from actually doing things now. If I can't walk comfortably, I can't work, so I'm jumping back into programming a bit and doing some game design/programming.
Hmmm... a recent conversation about shit-posting made me think about sharing what's going on with me: A lot. It's OK if you don't know me personally or don't care, but for those that do: this might be a handy thing. Or just some internet fluff. Aaaand I don't know how to do the linked post thing. I don't do social media typically. So...
So wait building all these "secure" chat apps on a browser engine packaged in a thin layer of UI, with its insane number of dependencies and the gigantic, immense attack surface that this entails, was somehow a bad idea?
Who knew! Who could have foreseen this! Shocking, really.
Paying a few dollars a month to use Twitter, which is run by a billionaire.
Donating a few dollars a month to help your Mastodon server, which is run by people who care about their communities.
Periodic reminder to check the "About" section on your Mastodon server to see if they have donation links. :)
I'm checking out Godot game engine! It is lightweight and straightforward! Unity imploded literally a few days before I dropped a few thousand dollars on a new pc to run the bloat that unity was! Godot is fantastic so far.... I'm ramping up pretty quickly!

I worked for the burningman project as Department of Public Works for 16 or so years. I have been programming since I was 12 and this is my 1st forray into social media. Here's hoping federation lives up to its promises!
