Hot take: by being actively hostile to end to end encryption apps, FBI and DOJ has created the playing field on which Salt Typhoon now operates.
They're every bit as culpable for texts being intercepted as FCC is for the robocall epidemic.
@malwarejake yeah. This about face is so shocking! I'm ever so slightly suspicious that the fbi has gotten enough exploits or work around that they aren't worried anymore. That still shouldn't dissuade people from using encrypted apps. Its still better. But I'm curious about the whole thing
@babadookspinoza i fully agree. How do we counter the other argument that they make about the government being the parasitic middlemen? I think they have "othered" the government so far away from "we the people" that they can't wrap their head around the concept of public service.

@thunderbird i used k9 years ago but it fell off my radar when I phone broke and I stopped using cyanogen mod. I eagerly use thunder bird desktop and am enthusiastic to install on the phone and import some keys
